VNV RECEIVES MAJOR VOICELESS GRANT!
VNV recently was awarded a major grant from the Voiceless organisation. Voiceless, the fund for animals, offers financial support to non-profit organisations for the design and implementation of projects which improve the lives of animals in Australia.
VNV submitted a proposal to Voiceless through their grants program for financial assistance to publish a 16 page colour booklet outlining the impact of people's diet on the environment. The booklet will be based on a presentation delivered regularly by VNV which highlights the environmental impacts of an omnivorous versus a plant based diet. It covers impacts on Global Warming, Land, Fresh Water, Oceans, Energy, Plants & Animals and People. Based on the presentation, Voiceless responded by supplying a grant for substantially more than we asked for! They want us to complete the brochure and print as many as we can for distribution.
When finalised, this booklet will be officially launched at Kindness House and then freely distributed to other not-for profit organisations as well as at events, festivals, expos, and street stalls as part of an Australia-wide campaign. In addition, the booklet will be used to support associated media releases, radio and newspaper interviews, related talks and lectures designed to distribute and publicise the booklet. It will also be available in pdf format on the VNV web site www.vnv.org.au.
The award was presented by Brian Sherman AM (Voiceless Co-founder and Director) and actor Hugo Weaving (Ambassador for Voiceless). Rebecca Irvine, a representative from the VNV Team, went to Sydney to receive the award on VNV’s behalf. The award presentations were held on 3 December at the Sydney Opera House flagship restaurant 'Guillaume at Bennelong'. When asked about the awards event Ms Irvine said “It was really fantastic to see so many not-for-profit organisations of a like minded nature receiving awards, all for really fantastic animal related causes. Each organisation was so deserving. It just goes to show that all their hard work is being recognised and supported and how much great work can be done with the grants mechanism provided by Voiceless”.
(Photograph courtesy of Paul Green)We are currently working hard (Feb 08) to finish off our material in brochure format, and get the material to a company for layout and graphic design. We look forward to providing an informative and inspiring booklet, and distributing it to members of VNV and the general public in the second half of 2008. Meanwhile, we continue to do lectures at events, councils and schools.
We sincerely thank Voiceless for their very generous support.
